KL Rahul’s full name is Kannur Lokesh Rahul, is an Indian cricketer who was born on 18 April 1992. in Mangalore, Karnataka. He bats with the right hand. KL Rahul plays for India’s national team, Karnataka state team, and Kings XI Punjab in IPL.

KL Rahul played in the Under 19 World Cup for India in 2010. His first match was against Australia, which was an international match in 2014-2015. KL Rahul impressed everyone by scoring 110 runs in his second test match.

He scored a century in the first ODI and was the first Indian player to achieve this fantastic thing. KL Rahul made his debut in ODI with a match against Zimbabwe in Harare.

In the year 2018 IPL 2018, Lokesh Rahul scored the fastest fifty in IPL history by scoring 50 runs in 14 balls. In the IPL auction, Kings XI Punjab spent 11 crores for Lokesh Rahul.

KL Rahul Career:

KL Rahul made his debut while playing for Karnataka against Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy. He also played for India in ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. KL Rahul’s score for six innings was 143 runs.

Because of some reason, he must leave the Karnataka team for the next season. However, KL Rahul comeback in the 2012-13 season. And then, he scored 1033 runs in 2013-14. KL Rahul was the second-highest scorer of the season.

Finally, Karnataka won the Ranji Trophy title based on their performance. In 2013, rahul performance also helped him fetch a place in Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In 2014-15, Rahul played for Duleep Trophy, and because of his performance, he was awarded a spot in the team India. After this, he played in Australia as an Indian team member in Dec 2014. Eventually, KL Rahul replaced Rohit Sharma in Melbourne when debuting in the Boxing Day Test.

In the next match held in Sydney, Rahul strengthened his claim in the team when he scored a brilliant 110. In that match, he did a partnership of 141 runs with captain Virat Kohli. After that, however, again out of the team because of his poor performance in Sri Lanka. At that time, KL Rahul scored only 126 runs in six innings, while in the second Test match of the series, he scored 108 runs.

Brilliant Performance by KL Rahul:

In 2016, Kannur Lokesh Rahul got the chance for the Indian team’s tour of Zimbabwe. In that match, He scored an unbeaten 100 in his first international ODI match played in Harare on 11 June.

The same year, he again played for the Indian team on the West Indies tour. KL Rahul scored 158 runs in a Test match in Jamaica, scoring the best century. Then he played against West Indies and became the first opener to score a century in his debut match.

He also scored a century in his 51 balls in the fourth T20 match, which happened in Lauderhill. But unfortunately, India lost the game by just one run.

Setbacks and Comebacks:

KL Rahul had to stay away from cricket because of his injuries. However, Rahul eventually returned to his country’s soil with his first century in 2016. In the Test match in Chennai in December 2016, he had a strong performance against England.

In 2017, during India’s tour of Sri Lanka, KL Rahul was tried as an experiment at number 4. But he could only score 28 runs in 3 matches in this position, which went very wrong. After that, he has been out of the Indian ODI team.

IPL Career of KL Rahul:

KL Rahul could not show anything excellent for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014-2015. So, in 2016, he was transferred to Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the tournament. In the IPL season, he achieved 397 runs and averaged 44.11.

KL Rahul’s strike rate this season was 146. His efforts helped the team land in the finals. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated them in the finals.

KL Rahul’s father’s name is Dr. KN Lokesh (professor of the Civil Engineering department)at the National Institute of Technology, Karnataka. KL Rahul’s mother’s name is, Rajeshwari (a professor at Mangalore University). He is very close to his mother. KL Rahul has one younger sister whose name is Bhavna.


He is in serious relationship with a famous Bollywood actress, Athiya Shetty. They are planning to marry in 2023.
